TEMPUS TWO MELANGE 2004 WHITE
This was a wine that I bought off the shelf at a supermarket sometime ago, and never got around to having a taste of it, but the nicely labelled Pewter label was something that really caught my eye and hence it has been in my fridge ever since!
It's a generic Australian wine which means that the grapes are sourced from all over Australia (like a cheap table wine), but I'm hoping that means the grapes are of the best quality sourced! Speaking of which, the grapes are the Viognier and Marsanne, which means that wine is meant to impersonate the Rhone white style of wines (my favorite!), something like a Vacqueryas or a Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc, hopefully.
Ok, now the tasting :
APPERANCE : A medium straw gold color in the core with a clear transparent rim. Good Clarity with some vibrancy in color.
NOSE : A lovely citrus fruits of lemons and line the nose with fatty meat depth. There are some hints of orange & lemon skins at the back, with some very subtle flowery background.
PALATE : Nice body & good smooth texture, nice weight and all rounded citric feel. A very nice finish of grapefruit skins and citrus taste.
EVOLUTION/CONCLUSION : A very decent wine that showcases a lot of the fatty Marsanne and very citric & aromatic Voignier character. not much development given the lack of oak structure, but its a very decent wine for its value.
